Outreach Programs

Precious beyond measure is the support that B-R has received from students. The combined efforts of North Central HS (Indianapolis), Westlane Middle School (Indianapolis) and Christ the King parish school (Ferdinand & St. Henry, IN), led to the first shipment of solar lights in 2012. Each of those schools have continued their support in different ways. Their contributions have helped initiate and sustain a variety of youth-related programs.

Sea Container Shipment

In an effort to share excess and purchasing power, once a year FBR joins a group of other NGO's which together ship goods to Haiti very reasonably due to their combined efforts. A shipment begins with collections which individuals and organizations make January through March. Collections are the result of donor "opportunities." Each donor brings their own special connection or source of "excess." Goods may include: lightly used shoes, clothing, and toys for preschool children; school, office, and sewing supplies; soccer uniforms, solar lights, etc. Because goods and buying opportunities are typically much more available in the U.S., many items are brand new. Whatever is collected is carefully sorted, organized, and labeled during packing. Community leaders in B-R know in advance what the shipment contains making it easy for them to distribute the goods for their intended purpose.
